CREATIVE PAINTING CONVENTION

CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19) UPDATE AS OF APRIL 16, 2021:

Here's the latest news: UPDATE ON NEVADA'S RE-OPENING and news on the sale of the Tropicana.

First of all, please be patient if this post seems lengthy and read through it in its entirety before posting questions.
BEFORE POSTING A QUESTION ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE (or by e-mail) be sure to read the Facebook thread
of questions because someone else may have already asked, and the answer may have already been posted.

You will be pleased to hear that the Governor of Nevada will return covid restriction authority back to each county to decide what restrictions they may wish to have in place for limiting the spread of the virus. WEARING MASKS in all public places remains a state mandate at this time. This includes casinos and restaurants when not actively eating, drinking or smoking.

As of June 1st, all businesses, hotels, casinos, etc, may operate at their full 100% capacity.

Nevada has been robust in vaccine administration. Vaccination is encouraged to help facilitate herd immunity, especially if a person plans on being in or around large groups of people.

We have just learned in the past couple of days that the Tropicana has been sold again (for the 6th time since I've been here) and it is uncertain at this time what impact this will have on Creative Painting. We've been down this road 5 times before and hope to weather the storm once again without too much "damage".

We are currently trying to find out if our contact at the Trop will remain in his current status as the one we negotiate our contract with so we can have a meeting in May to get the negotiations done. There's always the possibility that the new owners will put their own personnel in place. This would mean starting from scratch instead of making a few minor adjustments. If the new owners want too many financial "guarantees" from our group, this could be detrimental to having the convention due to inceased costs to either Creative Painting, our attendees, or both.

It is UNKNOWN as of April 16th which scenario will play out, but we wanted to keep you updated with what we know so far. In the meantime, our tentative dates are Feb. 20 - 25, 2022.

Thanks to everyone for being so patient while waiting to hear if there will be a 2022 convention, and we ask for your patience for just a little bit longer. We will update this page as soon as we have more information to pass along.

Hang in there, ans we hope to see you here in February!

DATES: 2022 convention dates are tentatively Feb. 20 - 25
Exhibits open as usual on Wed, Thur, & Fri. (Feb. 23, 24, & 25.)
We'll once again be at the Tropicana Las Vegas for our "delayed" 30th annual convention.
EXHIBITS / SHOPPING: Admission is FREE, and so is the parking!
LOCATION: Classes will be in 15 various meeting rooms; Exhibits will be in the Tropicana's Pavilion.
CLASSES: All selected classes are new, never before offered, by popular teachers.
Seating for most classes is limited to either 27 or 36 (depending on room size).
SPONSORED EVENTS:
These are events in the 700 series that will most likely sell out.
Don't miss these as you scroll though the pages of what's being offered!
Seating for these events can be as high as 96, depending on student demand, teacher preference, and room size.

CLASS RE-SALE POLICY:
Class admission tickets are NOT transferrable. If you wish to sell a class ticket, simply bring it to the convention office. We will attempt to re-sell your ticket. Check back before the class starts to pick up your money if your ticket was re-sold by our staff. An $8.00 fee will be deducted for each ticket re-sold. If your ticket was not re-sold, you then have the option to get the ticket back and go take the class.

Helpful hint: If a class still has many seats available, we probably cannot re-sell the ticket, since we'll be selling our tickets first. If a class is sold out or nearly filled, we should be able to re-sell the ticket for you.

Suggestion: Do not sign up in advance for more classes than you can handle. You can always add more to your schedule later, or at the convention (subject to availability of course).

CLASS ETTIQUETTE:
1. Smoking is NOT allowed in any classrooms or the hallway.
2. Cell phones & pagers are allowed only if set to "silent" ring or "vibrate" so they do not disrupt the class. Please step outside the room if you receive a call.
3. Be on time for class; Late arrivals often delay class "timing" ... but wait outside for the teacher to open the room for seating. It's easier for the teacher to "set-up" supplies if the room is empty.
